Soundbar Musick Cafe in Kenosha served as the host of two of the most talented and hard-working music groups in the area: Violet Wilder and violinist Georgia Rae.
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing both sets of musicians perform throughout the past few years, and they were each in top form Friday night. Rae opened the show by showcasing the very skilled loops she creates using her pedal and violin. Though I have seen it many times, I am always left with a sense of strong admiration after watching how Rae is able to do so much, while acting like she’s not using much effort at all.

Her words Friday during her set were particularly encouraging, and I encourage you to listen to them for yourself in the video of her performance embedded further down this page.
When it comes to Violet Wilder, I absolutely love their vocal harmonies. Let me be clear, none of their music lacks in any way. They are each very well-trained musicians and singers on their own, and collectively, they are a female-led supergroup. However, the particular way that their voices blend together is so smooth and so beautiful that it’s something I try to experience whenever the opportunity presents itself.
